Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage. The idea is to draw old and stagnant blood to the surface of the skin so new blood can flow throughout the body speeding up the recovery process.
Deep Tissue & Myofasical Release
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. It is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment.
Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and rebalance the entire body. It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones. (Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body.) Direct myofascial release is sometimes known as deep tissue work. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain.
Gua sha is a healing technique of traditional East Asian medicine (sometimes referred to as ‘scraping’) and is the practice of using a tool to apply pressure and scrape the skin to relieve muscular pain, tension and/or inflammation. This action causes light bruising, known as petechiae or 'sha,' and often appears as light-dark red or purple. Gua sha may also be used to help break down scar tissue and connective tissue in order to improve movement in the joints.

"My philosophy and approach towards massage and bodywork is that of a partnership; both the practitioner and the client are committed to putting in the work towards a common goal of healing. I do my best to offer education, explanations, and mindful suggestions during a session, but ultimately change can only be sustained if a client is willing to put in the consistent effort, every day, to reinforce what we have accomplished during a session."
